Johnson did six paintings of the Courthouse Square and other historic buildings. So impressive were the paintings that the "FORD TIMES" published an article that was seen by an estimated two million readers across the country. The headline read, "Elkhorn - The Christmas Card Town."
After the article was published, the Ford Motor Company presented the city of Elkhorn with one of the original paintings. In a joint effort between the Ford Motor Company and the Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce, they began searching for the missing five paintings. By 1988 five of the original six were located, leaving the missing painting yet to be found. Entitled "Around Town" and depicts a boy and a girl walking in front of Elkhorn's Webster House Museum.
