The Benefit of Bees
The Walworth County Historical Society will feature the fascinating life of bees and beekeeping. This special presentation will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 19 at Heritage Hall, Elkhorn. This program will be particularly beneficial to home schooled children.
David Koester, Elkhorn, in retirement, started beekeeping as a hobby. It has grown into a passionate cause for the preservation of bees. He will show his honey operation which means installing bees in the hives during the early spring to extracting honey at summers end. His presentation will include related items such as a smoker, bee suite, and other items. In our March program we learned about native plants that attract “pollinators” which are now nearing the state of extinction with seven different kinds of bees on the endangered species list.
Heritage Hall is located at 103 Rockwell on the corner of S. Washington. There is no admission charge but donations to the Society would be gratefully accepted.
